IronPig Game Results 8/11/11 – Left Right Left

The IronPig struggles against left handed pitching hit a note today as they were defeated by the Norfolk Tide by a final score of 0-7.

Starter Feierabend went 6 strong innings before allowing 4 runs in the 7th, then Aumont allowed another 3 and that’s all Norfolk needed.

The offense today wasn’t there. I remember seeing the Right hand batter vs. Left hand pitcher strategy employed many times this season and thought to myself, “They know better than I do, it must work out in averages.” It really hasn’t though. The Pigs are 13-20 against lefty starters this season and Matt Provence mentioned on the broadcast that they have lost the last 9 straight games facing left handers.

Maybe it’s time to keep the best hitters out there and hope for the best.

Pigs come home tomorrow!

OinK!

Lefty tomorrow. Too. I think. Took that into account for my triple play entry.

  2. Good thing I didn’t turn on the radio I’d brought with me in my travels in Allentown today. I can’t bear to listen to an agonizing Provence… bet he spent more than the usual amount of time b!tching to the scorer?

  3. Lefty tomorrow, lefty Sunday, lefty Monday, and if I remember correctly Matt mentioned on the broadcast last night that a few days next week will include lefties.

If I were opposing managers, I’d do my best to start left handed pitchers against the IronPigs until the Pigs can prove they can hit the pitching with RISP.

Saturday’s pitcher for Toledo is a right hander, as of now.

For those interested, MiLB.com has a FREE app for smart phones for AAA. It sets up the same way MLB.com app is set up.

I downloaded it and its easy to navigate. Search MiLB.com Triple-A.

    • Dean, thanks for this information. I just downloaded it.

It’s clear that we’re now a .500 club at best, and will need some help to make it. This makes it easier to track said help. Or, more painful. Whatever. I’m enjoying the ride, though.
