IronPig Tickets to Increase!

Like we didn’t see this one coming.. but it’s not as bad as it sounds.

Announced today by the IronPigs, ticket prices will essentially go up by $1 per ticket. This is only the second time in 4 years that ticket prices have changed (Sections 101 and 102 were $7.50 in 2008) and we should feel good about that.

There is some incentive for season ticket holders though. The Pigs have locked in the current rates for anyone who renews their season ticket plan for multi-year committments. If you sign up for 5 years, you retain the current rate AND if you are a full season ticket holder you will receive 1 giveaway item per account for every giveaway during that 5 year period! (No additional cost)

I’m happy to see this. Finally seeing some full season ticket holder benefits. No more getting to the game 4 hours early for a bobblehead. Getting a better rate on tickets. I plan on signing up. You should too.

OinK!

WIth the giveaway idea, a season ticket holder wouldn’t have to rush to get to the ballpark for one ? If so, I like the idea.

I like this too! I wonder if this holds true for full season ticket holders who are currently under contract?? I figured that ticket prices would go up but I too agree that it’s not all that bad and I like the additional benefits they are offering to season ticket holders as well as new ones!

    Oink, Oink!!

So it’s one giveaway per account or per ticket? If it’s per account we’d be better off with 4 1-ticket accounts rather than 1 4-ticket account, right? Also wonder if you have to show up on game night to get the promised promos or if you can collect them another time (say in case of rain or vacation).

Hope this doesn’t change the guaranteed promos for the club level ticket holders, that’s one the best benefits of having upstairs seats…

I’m giving this a lot of thought and I’m learning towards not renewing even with the added bonus. 5 year commitment is too much for me.

  5. OK, just to clarify, if I’m understanding everything:

    1. Gotta lock in for 3 or 5 years in order to pay the lower price. I love it, and I’m back next year, but a lot can change in 5 years… (BTW, 4 club seats at $1000 per, times 5 years is a $20k commitment. I might want my own parking space for that…) You can’t really threaten to cancel your season tickets for next year based on vuvuzelas or bobbleheads or fireworks or whatever else if you’ve signed a five-year note, you know.
    2. I also have questions about the giveaway thing: one per account does make it sound like my four seats will still only generate one free item plus whatever I qualify for on game day. Perhaps they’ll save them all and give them at the end of the season? How are they distributing them this year for the people who bought the giveaway package? Did anyone do that? I hope I wouldn’t have to stand in line at fan services to get it; that would be a drag. Certainly more of a benefit for field level ticket holders. As you say, if they take away the club-level guarantee, well, that would be negative value.
    3. Last year they gave us (well, me anyway) ticket “credit” to use at concessions or the store, when we renewed. Does this mean they’re not gonna do that this year? I guess saving $72 per seat is a nice dicount…
    4. I have an idea: if I’ve gotta pay for these tickets for the next five years, can they just bill my credit card every month? You know, like I pay for my cell phone and my satellite radio and everything else: $4k per year divided by 12 months equals $336 per month on my AMEX. (footnote: crimony, that’s more than my first car payment was)
    5. OK, if I can’t have my own parking space, how about valet parking? πŸ™‚

I still say parking should be free for season ticket holders. Or heck, let us pay $1 per game to be able to purchase the parking tickets early. I would be in with that.
I’m not so sure of this giveaway thing. I would still need to get there early because there is 2 adults and 2 kids. So 1 giveaway plan does not make everyone happy in my family.
I do know that if you purchased the plan for the giveaways this year, you could pick them up at the box office. I’m not sure when, but I do know someone who did it and she picked up her stuff last month.

Ten dollars a ticket is not a bad per game price. Scranton for example charges $14 a seat for a field level ticket although parking is free for everyone at Scranton. What I do not understand is charging the ticket plan holders the same per game price as walk up and single game sales. Many teams offer a slight discount per ticket in packages compared to single game face value price. Personally although some of the give-aways are attractive I could not care less about getting an extra one.

  8. I have always felt full season ticket holders should receive all the giveaways regardless if they have club seats. The idea of one per account is not really a perk for people with multiple seats on their account like Heather stated. She will still have to get to the ballpark early to get the giveaways for her husband or other child.

I’m probably not going to renew for 5 years, I love the Iron Pigs and all but not ready to get into a long term relationship with them. A lot can change in 5 years financially and otherwise. I’ll absorb the price increase for the freedom I have by renewing annually.
