Sunday’s IronPig’s Game Moved to 7:05 pm

The IronPigs posted on their website this morning (Thank Tom G.:-) that the game scheduled for 5:35pm has been pushed back to 7:05. The reason given is to let the weather pass but I’d imagine that long bus ride back from Louisville has something to do with it too.

GREAT DECISIONS BY THE BOSS—-THEY FOLLOWED THE STORM, UNLIKE THE PHILS————-THE PHILS HAVE REALLY MESSED UP THE ROTATION—————BACK TO THE PIGS, IF THE PHILS DONOT GET MATSUI FROM THE A’S LOOK FOR BROWN TO BE BACK WITH THE BIG CLUB

I really think Brown needs to stay and play everyday. He needs a lot of work. I still don’t understand why if the Phils can’t get someone like a Matsui, why they just don’t move up Moss. I am glad Moss is here for these final games, but I think he could be a decent PH and play every now and then.

  3. Good decision in my opinion as we don’t know how the weather will turn out

  4. Yeah, there are some folks out there complaining about the ironpigs not just immediatelycancelling the game, but really, if it’s nice and sunny and the field is OK, why not play a 7:05 game? If the teams hit travel trouble, or the storm blows the tarp off or some other horrible outcome of the storm, then cancel it when you have to. I suppose it’s an insult to people named Irene…

It’s not like Brown is ripping it up, huh? Very interesting to read the Housnick article in the MC this week about the changes Junior made to his hand position and swing while he was with the ‘Pigs. I hope for similar fortune for Brownie. But not until he wins some games for us. πŸ˜‰

Matsui can still hit–that’s for sure. I’m not sure the Phils need him, though. There seems to be a “fantasy” or “dream team” mentality running through Philly and her teams and fans. What happened to the days when you put together a good team and then went out and played and maybe got a championship? I was in favor of the Pence deal–they’ve got him for a couple years–but it seems every rent-a-player is now connected with the Phils.

    • Comments from the team on Twitter:
Dweezy: do u guys feel like storm chasers? There’s cities being evacuated & the @IronPigs R headed straight @ #Irene
De Fratus: duh cuz a couple thousand dollars in suite costs is worth putting lives in jeopardy!

      • One of my personal favortie tweets was in reference to the mold problem in the clubhouse. “Apparently the way to fix mold is to put duct tape over it” πŸ™‚

      • I hope the guys don’t get in trouble for grumbling on Twitter. Some employers get a little wound up about that sort of thing….

      • That’s a good question. Although technically they aren’t employed by the IronPigs but by the Phillies. (That’s who signs the paychecks)

      • Well, the Phils can’t be too impressed, either, I’d think. Schwimer intimated that he’d been “scolded” (my word) about his blog contributions to phuturephillies.com and asked to discontinue. Some of this twitter stuff would seem to come under the same umbrella. Then again, if there really is a mold (“SARS” dweezy calls it) problem in the clubhouse, then truth can be an absolute defense.
