IronPig Game Results 8/31/11 – Fat Lady is Warming Up

You could hear the Fat Lady warming up in the tunnels at Coca Cola Park tonight. It’s not over until she sings but a 4 game losing streak combined with a hitting slump and Erik Kratz’s questionable suspension have her ready to go.

Pigs lost to SWB tonight by a score of 2-6.

Pawtucket lost tonight and remain 2 games ahead of the Pigs with 4 games to go.

Gwinnett at the moment holds a 1 game lead over the Pigs in the wild card race. That could go to 1.5 or .5 games pending the result of the 2nd game of their double header tonight. At the writing of this post, Gwinnett holds a 2-1 lead in the 6th inning.

Is it April yet?

Tell the Fat Lady to go on Weight Watchers!! With Gwinnett losing game 2, their lead is only a 1/2. Yes, they have Teheran(15-2, 2.22) going tomorrow and it will not be easy at this point. But I am not giving up. And there is NO ONE out there who thought before the season the last regular season home game would mean something(you are lying if you say you thought it would). It will. Let’s enjoy the ride, no matter what happens. OINK, OINK!!!!

DUDE—WHERE DID YOU GET A PICTURE OF MY PROM DATE???? SERIOUSLY GOING INTO FRIDAY THE PIGS WILL BE A GAME OUT—-I THINK THE PIGS GO 3-1 AND GWINETT 2-2 AND WE HAVE A TIEBREAKER AT THE COKE ON TUESDAY, WHERE DAVE BUSH WILL START AND BEAT GWINETT. WE WILL THEN SPLIT WITH THE PAWSOX AT HOME WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY—SPLIT AGAIN ON FRIDAY/ SATURDAY AND BUSH WILL WIN GAME 5—AND ONTO THE GOVENOR CUP——-WHERE WE WILL GET SMOKED IN FOUR GAMES. WHAT A GREAT YEAR, AND THANKS TO EVERYONE

  5. The ‘Pigs never had a great team batting average, but what they did have was an uncanny ability to get hits in key situations. That was before the Phillies started raiding the ranks. Since then, whatever magic (sense of ‘team”?) they had is gone. The bats have been silent and most of the time the pitching has been less than stellar.

Will they get to the playoffs? It’s looking less and less likely. But even if they do, how far will they go playing like this? Not very far, I assure you. To go anywhere in the playoffs you have to go into them on a hot streak — not on the kind of anticlimactic fade the ‘Pigs are suffering.

Let’s just hope they can win their last 4 games and squeak by Gwinnett. Or at least go out on a high note.
