He got “claimed” but that doesn’t mean he is gone yet. The Phillies can pull him back.
…he’s probably excited because he’s from Fairfield, CA which is near San Diego. Hope he stays but I’m sure he’d love to pitch in his own backyard.
Wow, wish Carp the best if he’s gone. We’ll see. He’s certainly done more good than not for us over the years.

According to the Padres website, recent waiver claim players Jeff Fulchino, Drew Carpenter, & Jeremy Hermida will all be on the Padres expanded September roster. Their website already has Carpenter on their active roster. It’s a good opportunity for him in a big ballpark that is usually kind to flyball pitchers. I hope he does well.

Not a surpsing move or a bad move for either party.
The Phillies gave Carpenter chances and he sucked hard every time.
He had zero chance pitching on the major league level for a playoff caliber team like the Phillies any time soon.
Don’t forget that if he doesn’t sulk and suck his way thru 2010 with the Pigs he probably gets the call to replace Moyer, not Worley. But his poor attitiude and poor performace after being the final cut out of ST last year cost him with this organization dearly.
