IronPig Game Results 9/2/11- Pigs Win! Pigs Win!

The Pigs broke a 4 game losing streak taking a 9th inning walk off victory over the Buffalo Bison by a final score of 2-1!

The Pigs got a great start scoring a run in the first inning but were held silent until the 9th inning antics that helped them win the game.

The Bisons scored their only run in the 4th inning, an unearned run off of Edell, Pete Orr bobbled a ground ball that allowed the runners to advance and continue the inning.

In the 9th the crowd was pumped up and the Pigs felt it. After Barfield flied out, Clutch Cody Overbeck singled and advanced on a wild pitch. Sardinha flied out for the 2nd out. Then in an 8 pitch at bat, pinch hitter Delwyn Young pushed a ground ball up the middle for a sure 3rd out but the throw went wide of the first baseman and the Pigs got the winning run.

Not pretty but effective.

Gwinnett was rained out tonight with a suspended game in the 2nd in Charlotte. The game will be made up as part of a double header tomorrow. This could be a blessing for the well rested IronPigs as Gwinnett loses their starter for tonight’s game and will most likely press their bullpen over the weekend. The Pigs now have a .5 game lead in the wild card race.

Indianapolis, who had been making a push within 2 games of the Wild card, lost tonight. This puts them 3 games behind.

Pawtucket did win though. They maintain a 2 game lead with 3 to go.

Getting down to the end and it’s still exciting! How about that Pig Fans!

OinK!

No, I did not renew for 12 years.

Horrible stretch at first base and Valentino Pascucci finally wins a game for the Ironpigs. The error was clearly on the throw but a decent first baseman would have come off the bag to catch that ball and prevent a runner from scoring from second.

Hopefully our luck is changing. I could feel this one slipping away as Savery was used to pinch hit, Schwimer threw just 1 inning, and Aumont was lifted for a pinch hitter after just 1 inning, which left only Zagurski and De Fratus before we got to Juan-2-3 Perez. We need a good game on Saturday.

    WHERE’S BROWN??

  4. Not the greatest display of batting prowess, but hey, the exciting ending hopefully will fire up the troops to take the rest of these games! Go ‘Pigs!

(Don’t expect to see Brown at Coca-Cola Park again this season. I highly doubt his “flu” will go away before tomorrow. And if the ‘Pigs get in the playoffs, he’ll probably find another excuse — or the Phillies will call him up. Which is fine; we don’t need him to win (but could surely lose WITH him!).
