Just fitting these in here:

The IronPigs are hosting a viewing party of tonight’s game at the Copperhead Grille on Airport Road. Game time 7:05pm.

If you aren’t able to get there, you can always listen to Matt Provence and Mike Ventola on the 1320 or 1230 AM.

Another option is the MiLB TV online feed.

I prefer to watch the MilB feed on mute and listen to the radio broadcast.

***

There will be a Phillies viewing party on Sept. 22 at Coca Cola Park for Season Ticket holders. If you are a season ticket holder you should have received an invite with all the details.

I’ve heard many grumblings lately about the Fan Appreciation night last week. I noticed there was a discount on soda.

Help me out here, I didn’t take a walk around the park that night, were there other “thank you’s” to the fans that I missed?

I didn’t take notice, more concerned with the game, but I have been a magnet for people complaining about what they saw as a lack of Fan Appreciation.

I remember in 2008 there was a big “THANK YOU FANS” painted on the field. I guess we deserved it with the season’s results that year.

I’d rather say “THANK YOU to each and every IronPig Player, Sal Rende, Rod Nichols and Ryne Sandberg!”

Comment section is below, feel free..

OinK!

Can you believe I can’t get the radio broadcasts? I live on the east side of Allentown, near Philly Prezel. Earlier in the year I could get 1320 but got a lot of static. I listened through it best I could. Now I get mostly static and a faint broadcast of the game. I gave up both last Saturday and last night. 1230 AM has never come through for me. My PC is in a spare bedroom upstairs and I can’t sit there long as there is too much to do elsewhere at home. Someday I might be able to get real radio broadcasts of the Pigs games.

1320 is currently 750 watts daytime, 195 nighttime, per FCC records. Someone on another site thinks they’re still 5 KW day/1 KW night. (They also think their ‘stick’ is over there where it was in the 80s when their studio was near where B104’s is today.)

Internet radios are around, but how exactly you get them to function varies by manufacturer.

I did not feel appreciated……except……awe shucks 2 for one sale……you’re right though. In the past there was much more of a thankful attitude toward the fans than this year. Wasn’t there a year where every fan got raffle tickets and put them in a bucket for a chance to win something……how much does it cost to get the team to sign something and award that something….not to the highest bidder….just a loyal and lucky fan.

dan i was there for fan appreciation night, i know some people got upset about not more being done for the the fans, i heard the stadium announcer state for being the best fans they will have the soda discount and later the food discount, ok cool ,i took advantage of it! . about the the field being painted, maybe it had to do because of the weather conditions, not sure.. i just remember doing the first playoff game the ironpig logo behind home plate was nearly washed out, but to me no big deal…. i remember a post someone made doing all the grumblings about not enough being done and they made a good point that people always want something for nothing and after a year of giveaways at almost every game, what else do they still want?, and to be a fully fan appreciative give away i take it it would have to be a 8,000- 10,000 item giveaway so as not upset ANY fans and make sure everyone gets a promo! and how often do they give away that many, i think it would be unfair for fans to expect to give away that many even with a sponsored promo , i know they’re having the rally towel giveaway for 8,000 for the 3rd game of the gov. cup game and that is a exception and i think still very cool that it’s happening for the playoffs! … by your comments it seems like your not making a stance either way, and i understand, i too am just glad to see a winning team battling for the gov.’s cup and i know without a giveaway that they have a appreciative staff of the passionate lehigh valley fan base, GO IRONPIGS!, bring home the cup/bacon!

Regarding the September 22nd viewing party invitation:

Okay, it’s pet peeve time. Who decided to remove the word “you’re” from the English language and replace it with “your”? The word “you’re” is a contraction of “you are” while “your” means belonging to or relating to a person or group. It’s simple: You’re welcome, you’re funny, you’re right, you’re wrong. Your hat, your money, your job, your family.

My reason for bringing this up is because the first 2 words of my official September 22 viewing party invitation from the IronPigs says, “Your invited”. Huh? My invited? Who is teaching our children? It shouldn’t be long until “you’re” and “your” are both replaced by yore. Oh wait, I forgot. They’ve already been replaced by “UR”. Welcome to the text messaging generation. šŸ™‚

  5. Decal, were you an English major too? At least I’m not the only one bothered by everyone’s poor spelling and grammar!

    Just one good question:

how hard is it for their employees to smile, say ‘hi’, and thank you ?

Being a season ticket holder, I didn’t receive many of those from the office staff when I see them on the concourse. I know they have a job to do, but smiling and say ‘hi’ or ‘welcome’, isn’t that difficult. I have a customer service type job and I do it everyday.

That’s what they can do for their fans.

    • If someone doesn’t say hello to me.. I say hello louder the next time. I wave as close and as noticeable as I can. It’s hard not to say hello back šŸ™‚

I hate to say it, but do you know how much minor league employees get paid? Maybe you wouldn’t be so happy if you only got paid like $9/hr or whatever they’re making.

Oh this just in, Zags is a fat slob. Hopefully he’s not back next year, what a waste.

There really was nothing done for the fans other than reduced soda prices but like you Dan I was concerned for the game for at the time we were fighting for a playoff spot. I too would like to thank the IronPigs players, Ryne Sandberg, Sal Rende, and Rod Nichols for a great season. This has been some ride!!

    Oink Oink!

  8. Yes, they billed that last regular game as fan appreciation and you know what, simply suspending the parking charge would have made me happy. I told the parking attendant upon handing over my 3 rumpled dollar bills…”Fan appreciation my ass!” and we had a good laugh of course.

But in reality the Iron Pigs don’t owe us anything beyond a baseball game. The product on the field has been pretty darn awesome this year, we have playoff ball and some extra games beyond the regular season…so this is all gravy as far as I am concerned. I don’t need dollar dogs or even rally (dish) towels.
