Pig Fest Cancelled? Apparently

I found a voicemail on my phone this afternoon telling me that Pig Fest had been cancelled.

😦

Billed as a Bean Bag Toss tournament and Cow flop contest, cash prizes were to be awarded to winners and proceeds to charity.

I was really, really, really looking forward to this and it’s a shame. My only guess would be lack of participation. Suppose groundskeeper Bill may have objected to the cow flop contest too. Perhaps they heard of Team Dan & Jimmy T in the bean bag tournament and got scared.. The biggest loss is that this was for IronPigs Charities.

As I learned this past year, charity projects are a lot of hard work and truly depend on the generosity of others. Not an easy task by any means. Great idea and wish the Lehigh Valley had embraced it.

For those who did sign up, the voicemail went on to say refunds would be issued.

That is a big shame, I was looking forward to this. Perhaps they did get scared that Team Noise Nation was in the bean bag tourney. All kidding aside the big loss are the charities that this would have benefitted. I echo Dan’s words..too bad the LHV didn’t embrace this. It could have been a nice annual event. And that’s Jimmy T’s take!

    Oink on LHV!!

Maybe this was not getting the response expected. I for one didn’t find enough to make me want to come out to support the cause. Now, if they could tie this type of fall event to a charitiable walk to support say Alzheimer’s Disease, Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, etc along with more festivities including the COW PLOP and bean bag contests, that may get more of a response. Proceeds from the walk registrations could be split between the Iron Pigs Charities and whatever organization the walk would be supporting. It would be fun to have a more robust fall event for more to participate in.

Very odd as this morning at the gym, there was a TV commercial for Pigfest during a break in the ESPN reports.

Was this call from someone we’d recognize?

I’ve left tweets for Lindsey K. and Sarah M., hopefully they’ll see them in the morning…

Sarah Marten confirmed the cancellation last night on Twitter.

Now somebody needs to contact the ad agency that represents the Pigs… it’s up to them to remove the ad. In SECTV’s case, that’s ViaMedia. Someone I know complained to them in the past ’cause they don’t remove expired car-dealer ads.

  4. I didn’t recognize the name and no reason was given.
