Andy Tracy to Return to Phillies Organization!

(This is not the news I spoke of earlier.. stay tuned for that on Friday)

An “Internet Search” turned up details telling us that the most popular IronPig of all time will be returning to the Phillies organization as a manager. With a vacancy at AA Reading and the potential of Ryne Sandberg leaving for a MLB spot it leaves the Phillies a pair of managers short.

We also heard that the Cubs are not considering Sandberg for 2012 but St. Louis has asked for permission to speak with him as their manager decided to retire after the World Series.

Where will Andy end up? I honestly don’t see him coming to the Lehigh Valley, at least not this soon. Even our great Ryno managed his first season with a Class A team.

The Crosscutters have Mickey Morandini and Jorge Valendia.

The Threshers have Dusty Wathan and John Mizerock.

The Blue Claws have Chris Truby and Greg Legg.

Not to leave out the R-Phils who still have Frank Cacciatore.

Maybe a bump to a couple of these guys and have Andy get his sea legs in Clearwater, Lakewood or Williamsport.

Really though… it’s nice to have him around.

Welcome back old friend! First beer’s on me.

  1. Always thought the Phils should snap him up as a manager the minute he retired, and I’m glad to see they thought so too. Andy has the right attitude and the right skills for the job, and he’ll be a wonderful asset to any team that he manages — hopefully, one day, the IronPigs! (And one day, the Phillies!)

Pete Orr has been re-signed by the Phillies to a minor league contract, according to Phillies Insider on Twitter.
