I read it first at LehighValleyLive.com so will cite them…. http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/12/philadelphia_phillies_sign_pit_1.html
The Phillies have reportedly signed Dontrelle Willis to a 1 year deal.
Willis has appeared at Coca Cola Park before… perhaps us Pig Fans will be cheering for him this time!
OinK!

I remember the first time Dontrelle Willis pitched at CCP. It was May 1, 2009 and he was with the Toledo Mud Hens. Rich Thompson was the first batter he faced. Rich walked, stole second and then immediately stole third. The D-train wasn’t paying attention to him. Willis wasn’t involved in the final decision but the Ironpigs won the game 6-5. Ironpigs lineup that day was:
Rich Thompson, Jason Donald, Mike Cervenak, Andy Tracy, John Mayberry, Pablo Ozuna, Carlos Ruiz (rehab), David Newhan, Jason Ellison. Carlos Carrasco was the starting pitcher for the Ironpigs, Jake Woods was the winning pitcher and Mike Koplove picked up a save.
Willis was here again on June 12, 2011 as a member of the Louisville Bats. This time he was the losing pitcher in a 6-1 loss. John Suomi homered off him.
Yeah and on the rare occasion that I sat in sec. 108, he threw some sunflower seeds at me as I was giving him the Jimmy T experience…LOL. It’ll be good to root for him and not against him!
I can’t understand anyone throwing sunflower seeds at you. Oh wait, maybe I can……….
How does one go about getting the Jimmy T experience? Perhaps we should market that! hahaha
Yeah, sounds like a new theme night: Jimmy T Experience Night. Everyone come wearing the appropriate jersey and hat, and we’ll all 10,000 of us signal for a bunt at the appropriate time… 🙂
I think D-Train has a Major League deal, and I’m not sure if he has options: he looks like a LOOGY for the Phillies to take some pressure off Bastardo.
In other news: Matt Provence tweets that Richie T will be back. No official word, but I had to think that it was likely when he was added to the banquet roster.
