His best games of 2011 were probably game 2 of the season when the Ironpigs lost 2-1 in 10 innings and in July against the league champion Columbus Clippers. I would have loved to see Nate pitch back in 1998 when he was a 1st round draft pick by the Giants out of Penn St.
If I’m not mistaken, Bump uses a sinker as one of his main pitches. When it’s working he can look very, very good. When it’s not, he can get hit. Hard. I’ve spent some time trying to figure out if temperature, humidity or other conditions have some kind of effect on it (especially on Triple Play Challenge nights). Alas, I’ve been unsuccessful.
