Is there a chance that prospect Freddy Galvis will take the turn that Wilson Valdez did a couple years ago?
We were all looking forward to, and expecting, Valdez to be an IronPig a couple seasons ago. He never suited up and was called up to the Phillies to cover for an injury.
This morning I’m reading that Chase Utley’s nagging knee injury is still a problem and that Freddy Galvis could get the Opening Day call.
From Todd Zolecki on Twitter @ToddZolecki:
Amaro said Utley is “doubtful” for Opening Day. Said Freddy Galvis looks like the Opening Day second baseman.
That puts a hole in the IronPig’s infield. Who do you think will fill that spot?

They also just lost Joel Piñeiro as a possible starting pitcher after he was released by the Phillies today.
I saw Elarton gave up some runs today, anyone know how he looked? Galvis with a triple–looks like he’s gonna make it! Good for him! (also, Sanches, Valdes, Savery all look like they pitched OK. Diekman on now.)
Bad for us? I’m happy with Orr and Frandsen there. I suppose they could pick up a “true” SS from the scrap heap at the end of the month. I’m gonna miss the chance to watch that magic glove of Galvis, but, you know, I wonder how happy the Jays are with Mr. Bocock…
