Coca-Cola Park Parking woes on the horizon?

I’ve been following Abraham Atiyeh in the news since his Constitutional challenge to the Hockey Arena Project lawsuit. Rather than rehash what has already been written click here and just view the headlines – you don’t need to read the articles and although there are many, some are interesting.

One article noted it cost Bethlehem Township $100,000 in legal fees to defend one of Mr. Atiyeh’s cases which he eventually won but changed his mind on what to develop.

From drug treatment centers, a work release and treatment center, a jail, the arena suit and now his newest target “the lower parking lot” for a 580 bed geriatric hospital <click for full article. Regardless, it always seems to create controversy and result in litigation.

I’m sure the IronPigs will have a solution in fact they probably already do. It’s difficult to tell how Mr. Atiyeh will proceed from here. Be clear I’ve never met the man and as always there are two sides. Check out the above links and feel free to formulate your own opinion.

  1. Yeah, but in the print edition today, the following appears on the front page:

ALLENTOWN | City planners on Tuesday rejected developer Abraham Atiyeh’s proposal to have property next to Coca-Cola Park rezoned so he can build a 580-bed geriatric hospital.
City council will ultimately rule on Atiyeh’s zoning challenge. The planning ommission, in a 4-0 vote, found Atiyeh’s challenge lacks merit and recommended that council not amend the zoning ordinance. A public hearing is scheduled Monday before council.

  2. Yes, that should be “commission” above. The spaces with my name/addy cover up the reply space in IE9.
