Glimpse Into a Rain Delay for IronPigs

The radar showed storms rolling into the Lehigh Valley and the skies darkened. A glimpse into a rain delay with the IronPigs.

A few took to Twitter to share:

While the Pigs and Pawsox squeezed in 2 innings by this point, tonight started out with an hour and a half or so rain delay. Many reports of high winds, lighting and severe hail came in from the Lehigh Valley. The radar clearly showed a much bigger storm following behind the first and you would wonder why this game was even started. My understanding is that the groundskeeper has the call until first pitch and we have a new groundskeeper this season.

What does it hurt? Well, hopefully no one. Severe weather is always a threat to players and more so fans and staff as they don’t have a locker room to retreat to. (Fans do participate in Twitter antics as well though) The bigger thought brought up by Cheryl was that we wasted a Jonathan Pettibone start. Pitch 2 innings and then rain delay, at best, leads to the bullpen taking over. Those decisions are beyond my control and I enjoyed a nice Duck Dynasty marathon at home very dry and happy happy happy.

If this game does continue and complete more details will be posted in tomorrow’s “The Morning After.”

and here’s a glimpse into the future as Tuesday night Phillies top 5 prospect Roman Quinn hit an inside the park home run for the Lakewood Blue Claws and it took him just 14 seconds to round the bases.
