NoiseNation TV: Wide World of Pigs, episode 1

Cheryl did a great job editing the video, including the roll credits at the end.  But, just to make clear, thanks go out to:

Cheryl for the camera and editing, Jason for wrangling the players and for his experience in the dugout, Dan for the jacket and patch, Cody and Cameron for their time and for being good sports, Matt Sutor for the media access.  Now, if we can just get some phone books for me to stand on….

It was a lot of fun.  Enjoy.  Or, at least, have a laugh on us…

Great job. I like those questions that players normally don’t get in other interviews. On January 28, 2012 Cameron Rupp had the privilege of catching Roger Clemens in a Univ. of Texas alumni game. That had to be a thrill.

Oh, and the blazer looked sharp!

    • Thanks. I’ve got to include you in the prep emails to help with the questions. I tried to include interest questions, personal-type questions, with a bit of baseball. It’s easier to cheer when you know the guys you’re cheering for.

  2. Phone books are soooo last-century… can’t the concessions folks lend you one of those plastic crates?

  3. Holy jumpin! … How things have changed from the days of ANDY TRACY?! … There is little doubt, if only in my mind, that Tracy would have given an entirely different answer with respect to the intra-state arch-rival question and it would have went something alot like this — “We want to play hard for the fans each and every game. We all want to get to the Major Leagues, of course. But, we are going to work hard and give our best effort for the people here in the Lehigh Valley who support us because we know, in the long run, that will only help us get to where we want to go. We can read a map, too, and understand that it is important to our fans to be able to say they cheer for the # 1 AAA baseball team in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We are certainly going to go out there and give that our best shot.”

    • Well, I’ll cut Cody some slack here. He’s not a grizzled vet; this is but his second full year in professional baseball and he’s reached AAA already. I’m sure his head is swimming with all the stuff from different levels and with his proximity to the Phillies. I’m not sure it was a fair question, really, it was just on my mind so I threw it out there. I was saying to Dan yesterday, these guys have kinda trained themselves to answer questions quickly and concisely if only to get through the interview quickly. I’m getting better at this, but it’s not my given occupation, you know? I gotta have questions ready to go to try to keep them talking. It was cool, and fun, and once again, big thanks to Cody and Cameron for their time and agree-ability.
There was another player whom I wanted to interview; I prepared a list of questions and included his name on the media request. However, it was clear while watching fielding and BP that he was NOT in a good mood and was not having a good day. Even had he agreed to the interview, it may not have been any fun for him or for me (he’s one of my favorite players this season). We’ll try to get him next time, perhaps.
DiPro had a player on his list, and even asked him ahead of time if he’d do it. He said he would. When the time came, it was clear that he was VERY uncomfortable about being recorded. He was VERY nice about it, too. So again, we didn’t force the issue. Not worth it, for him or for us. We just want to see these guys do well, you know? Despite the flashy jacket, I’m not trying to work my way up in the media biz. 🙂

  4. PS – this is good stuff, this “Wide World Of Pigs” thing

    nur meiner Meinung, natuerlich

    😉
