IronPigs Suggestion Box 2013-2014

Hey there NoiseNation!  Now is the time when Minor League teams start to make plans for the next season.  They’re lining up sponsors, renewing season tickets, and starting on the promo schedules and the like.  If you’ve got ideas for them, now might be the time to make them known.  Maybe not the larger capital construction projects:  Larger Scoreboard, full LED ribbon board for the club overhang, upper deck seats above the press box….these are things that will probably need to wait.  I’ll share a couple of the ideas that are on my mind this morning, please add yours in the comments section below:

..

  1. What Could Have Been Night:  I’d like to see this come back.  I’m sitting here with a Woodchucks hat on.  It’s cool.  What’s next?  Pennsylvanians?  I’m ready.
  2. Different Perks for Season Ticket Holders:  We had the batting practice parties and most recently they used the picnic patio for some free grub (didn’t work out well for me:  It rained.)  The All Star “pic nic” has kind of run it’s course, but is kind of fun.  Here are some suggestions from Kram’s Korner:  A. Second autograph day just for S/T holders. B. A meet-the-players session for full S/T holders prior to the season.  C. A discount schedule for the Clubhouse Store based on ticket package.  D. Discounts on group seats if S/T holders want to bring a group to the park. E. Alternate ideas for season opening gift: i. exclusive car magnet or license plate ii. exclusive hat (nicer!) iii. exclusive T-Shirt (nicer)  iv. exclusive replica jersey design.
  3. Ticket Exchange: We’ve covered this before.  It’s doable and would result in better turnstile attendance and per-game revenue.  There would be a small take out of the coffers of the Ebay/Craigslist/StubHub sources.  It would help sell season tickets.  It just would make so much sense.  Make it happen.
  4. Keep the Stuff We Like:  Keep the Saturday Tiki after-party, the pre-game concert and dollar dog opportunity (maybe expand it to different days and improve it, but…), and more…
  5. New Uniform Designs:  Looks like some are coming.  See my previous post…
  6. A Push for the Playoffs: I know they’ve got to start selling the packages early.  It seemed like a lot of the IronPigs employees were cheering against the team late, because they didn’t want to work the playoff games.  Put some perks in for them so that we can get everyone pushing for the playoffs if the opportunity presents.
  7. A SaladWorks-like Stand:  It still seems like there aren’t enough healthy options for eating at the park.  This might be a nice start.
  8. A Tailgate Opportunity for Groups:  A park-like pavilion setup or tent outside the stadium which could be rented for an organized tailgate if groups would like to rent it.  Would be available hours before the gates open.  Would need additional staff and resources, but would make money.  Expands opportunity to sell to corporate groups.
  9. A Better, Longer Radio PreGame:  I’ve got some ideas for this.  However, they can steal them if they want….
  10. Free WiFi:  C’mon.  It’s 2014.

..

OK, that’s what I’ve got at the moment.  I’ll think of more and add them below.  Won’t you, too!  Try to think of stuff they can actually do prior to next season in order to be the most constructive.

See you at the SteelHawks…

  1. The autograph party just for season ticket-holders is #1 on my wish list. #2 is free Wi-Fi. Gotta be able to go online while I’m sitting in the parking lot with nothing to do before the gates open! And I agree 100% that it’s time to get a ticket exchange established. I’m embarrassed to see all the empty seats on nights when we’re supposed to be “sold out.”

This may be a little crazy, but wouldn’t it be neat if long-term (3-year or 5-year contract) season ticket-holders could have their names on their seats? Just a nameplate of some kind attached to the seat-back. My seat has been my seat since Opening Day 2008, and I’m proud of that.

You can have your health foods. As for me, I’d like to see hamburger barbeques, good breaded onion rings and soft ice cream added to the menu!

    • oooh! Onion Rings! Yeah, forgot that one. The Gyro stand is TRYING to add, them, but you know how that goes sometimes…

Yes, long-term on the field level should get names. They have them in Reading. We have them upstairs. No reason not to. When the prices go up with renewal, they could add them.

I personally don’t notice a difference between soft ice cream and soft yogurt, but I know some do…

Love the idea of a meet-the-players autograph party (I was at the one before the 2008 season & have every player, manager, & even Tim’s autographs on a shirt) & wifi along with a better ticket exchange (how about ANY game for S/T holders?) and names on seats – I’ve also had my S/T since Opening Day 2008! Another addition should be a parking voucher for S/T holders for rain outs – I’m usually not going to exchange my tix for another game, and therefore, lose my parking fee. Or even better, how about free or reduced parking for S/T?? Just a few of my thoughts…..

    • Good stuff, Kathy! I get a parking voucher with my four club seats; perhaps they need to give parking vouchers to field level STH with four seats.

For rain days, I think you might be able to get your parking if you go to the ticket window and ask for it. You might need to hold your ground a bit and/or collect on the rain game tickets (take section 101 or SRO or whatever’s available and give them away to friends or something) to get them.

C’mon Kram… there is free wifi, provided by us! SECTV! and it’s fast, really fast….

    • OK Ryan, but last time I checked you needed a PTD.net login or password to get on. It should be for everyone. Put down the Heineken can and let us know how to get on! 😉

      • RK's avatar RK

actually as of last year, we got rid of the PTD and made an SECTV one which is free for everyone! Wasn’t even a heineken fuel decision! and with it you can watch a live stream of the game on your smart devices

  4. You’d have to ask Connoisseur Media, who acquired 1230/1320 midway through last year, about any longer pregame…

    • OK, but what’s to keep another media outlet from having a pre-game show? Just because you don’t have broadcast rights doesn’t mean you can’t do pre-game, right? Stay tuned!

  5. OK, good stuff folks. What else do you have?

SERIOUSLY—YOU FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!! GET RID OF THOSE DAMN HARD/STALE PRETZELS AT THE BEER STANDS AND PUT PHILLY PRETZEL IN——-LOL–HAPPY DAY TO ALL THE VETS——-THANKYOU

    • Absolutely, Burt! No reason for the team to compete with your superior product. Genuine, Fresh, Philly Pretzels are an integral part of the Coca Cola Park experience–on par with Aw Shucks Corn and any other concession!
