  1. Good stuff guys!, i was wondering same thing about morandini, move up,sideways?,i know he didn’t have a winning record at lakewood not that means too much in minors, but wonder if that played a factor in them moving him, and bringing in someone new for lakewood?, anyway any new info on CCPARK upgrades/new features?, really not sure how much more they can add or change.. and any information on there new catcher they added to the pigs roster willians astudillo he was absent from the phils system last year, but 2 years ago had a pretty good no’s and had some great plate discipline, will be interesting to see where he fits in with all the catching prospects, one last thing have you guys heard anything why the pigs home opener this yearis at 5 p.m.? on monday, april 7 makes no sense!why not the regular 7:05 start time give people time to get homer from work, etc and happens to be only 2 hours after the phillies home opener starts!!??, anyway good to hear a new podcast about the upcoming season! cant wait for pitchers& catchers!!

    • Hey Brian, thanks for listening.

Here are some answers to the Morandini questions via an interview with Jay Floyd at Phoulballz.com:

As far as I know, no big news about CCP additions, but sometimes that stuff gets “announced” in March. I was just over there the other day picking up some hats (they had a nice sale..) and I didn’t see any kind of construction or anything–but then again, they didn’t exactly let me poke around too much, either.

As Nick says below, I don’t think we’ll see Asudillo in Allentown any time soon. He’s never played above the Venezuelan Summer League and it looks like he was out of baseball last season. And if we do, it’s probably bad news. He’s not really an IronPig. For now, look for Cameron Rupp and Lou Marson to split time behind the plate to open the season. Look for Valle and Joseph to start in Reading unless Valle is dealt elsewhere or Joseph’s concussion troubles return. Early in the season Marson will be the first call up if the Phils need a catchers, later on, if Rupp is doing well, it will be him. Marson has more MLB experience, but Rupp is the “prospect.”

Good question about the start time. I’m guessing it’s because opening day is kind of an “amateur night” for the fans. What I mean is, lots of times the folks you see on opening day you won’t see again until June when the weather gets nicer. The earlier start time should keep the game-time temperature reasonable. Also, it’s a school night, so it makes it better for the kiddos. Just my guesses. Perhaps some of the “festivities” had to be done earlier? Just guessing, I have no idea what they’re planning this season.

Good to hear from you two trouble makers again. Enjoyed your discussion about whether or not you’ll get to question Mr. Amaro. If I got to ask say anything to him, I’d be reminded of those famous words Desi used to use to Lucy: “Lucy, ju got some ‘splaining’ to do.” And Brian, not so sure you’ll get to see your new Latin catcher since Lou Marson is back in the system. Come on Spring……..
